no sim and my phone seem to activate it's self????

I brought a mega.used with no sim and not active.was judt using it for the wifi.then one day out of the blue it was active.how is that possible

Not all phones need a SIM card to activate. CDMA phones only use the SIM card for 4G for example. Contact the carrier and tell them the phone should not be active since it may be running on the other person's account by accident.
