No sound through TV/soundbar

I have a toshiba tv and are trying to connect a goodmans soundbar. When I connect the red/white cables we don't get any sound through the soundbar. I have tried changing the output setting from PCM to Auto but this hasn't made any difference.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure that the TV has red/white analog audio outputs? It is easy to mistake an input for an output. When you change from PCM to Auto this would be for a digital audio output not analog so it seems that you do have a digital audio output.
