Not sure what to buy

My girlfriend wants to "upgrade" a laptop since her (my old laptop) is way too slow.
I was thinking about 2 brands: Asus or Dell.
The purpose of the laptop: Mostly surfing through the internet, watching movies.
The laptop will not be used for games. Not sure what else can i say. The budget ~500£ or slightly more. Cheers

If she doesnt mind reduced office capability a chromebook would suffice.Battery life is superb on that but with the drawback of no windows and external apps

Yeah, forgot to add. Windows 7/10 only. She likes it simple as she's used to this OS
