we have an old tv .... the box we have for our cable takes HDMI hook up... so is there a way i can hook my old tv (it only has the round thing in the back and only one)and make it to hook up to HDMI is there a convertor or something or do i just need to return my box?

Is the "round thing in the back" threaded like this or smooth like this ??

If it is threaded, then that is a coax connector and the TV requires an RF (radio frequency) signal input.
If it is smooth, then it is an RCA connect and the TV requires a composite video signal input.

In either case you will need to buy a converter box if you want to use HDMI as the source.

Since your TV has only one round connection it should be an antenna RF connection. If it were composite video there would have to be two more for audio. Call your cable provider and get a non HD box with RF output. Tune your TV to either channel 3 or 4.
