It is likely hardware. Either the display itself is dead/damaged (yes it can be damaged even if no visible cracks), the connection to the display is loose/damaged, or other hardware is the issue. It is not likely software.

This being the case, you need to have it looked at. If it is under warranty, then contact the manufacturer. If it isn't under warranty, then try a local tech.
