DVD writers (internal ones) use SATA ports. That is not a port type supported by GPUs. There are GPU ports on some high-end gaming and workstation-class laptops, it is called a MXM port (see here: https/en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_PCI_Express_Module).
