some higher end receivers which have an OSD will have a section labeled setup and will automatically calculate delay. they often provide a speaker which connects up to the receiver for this purpose.
if you have a HTIB or lower end unit you may only have the receiver faceplate display but still may have a provided microphone and automatic delay calculator.
