opened my laptop and now it always shutdown

I opened my laptop and then applied something in it cause it always overheat. and now when i try to open my laptop, it would run but it will always shutdown after a couple of minutes. what should i do?

If I am understanding correctly, it is still overheating. It may be that there is too much or too little thermal compound used or it may be that a thermal pad got moved or damaged.
What laptop make and model and did you replace the thermal compound in the laptop?
