Opened up pc to install ram, tried to start and caps lock blinks and screen stays black

So I have a Hp Pavillion sleekbook 15, and I had to open it up to install ram. I did everything right I'm pretty sure, but when I tried to start it up, the screen is black and caps lock blinks like once a second. The power indicator on the side is lighting normally and there is a light on its right side with pictures of cds on top of each other that is not blinking. I tried to take out the ram but same problem. What could it be? Did I mess up something inside? Please help me as I need my pc and it's the only one I have!

Well, it worked before you opened it, then did not. So yes you did something. As to what, need to check it over again, maybe have someone else that knows about laptops well look at it.

Hang-the-9. Your so called solution is the worst I ever heard. The best course of action is to do the following. If you had already opened the laptop and or replace any parts inside of it, make sure it's the correct part to the unit. Sometimes the Cmos Battery can be the cause and can be replaced with ease but on other motherboards have I personally seen the Cmos batteries soldered on. GPU (graphics chip/ card) is all ways soldered on. There for the motherboard must be replaced, unless u know how to unsoldered & re-solder it with the right equipment. By replacing the motherboard you can be saving yourself from a lot of headaches. In most cases, motherboards are the ones that fail. CPU can also be an issue but unlikely unless a massive electrical shock fried it out along with the motherboard. I have seen that happen on all make and model of laptops. So as trouble shooting goes the best way to approach this issue is to get an external monitor hook and it up to the notebook/laptop. Then turn on the monitor first then the laptop. if no picture is displayed on the laptop then press f12 (on some laptop there a picture on the keyboard that indicates ext display) if no picture is displaying on the external monitor then u have a motherboard issue mainly GPU. But If you do get a picture on the ext monitor then it's the display cable that might be loose or damaged. If so then replace the whole LED screen.

Either way, the cost to fix your laptop top can be anywhere between $200 - 300 depending on where or from whom you buy your parts. Look on eBay. 70% of the time u can find the part u need in excellent & working condition at half cost. HINT HINT.
