Nikon: My great little S8000 (5 years old) suddenly opens with a fault - a tick,tick then silence - noise can be recreated with zoom towards T. Won't focus. All other items fine, but useful for photography. I could contact repairs, but cost will reach towards buying new. Anyone met this problem. I reckon I knocked when trying to with off.

Might as well get a new camera unless you are comfortable with taking the thing apart.
Happens often with the cameras, the lens zoom motor or some other mechanism inside the lens gets messed up.
