How's the phone supposed to tell if you're driving or just a passenger? How's the GPS distinguish btwn on a train and on a road parallel to train tracks?

Only way is for a user to turn on or off driving mode, and that's no better than just telling people to not answer their phones while driving. What about while the car is cruising? So it's ok for people to talk while driving at a constant speed?

It makes perfect sense. (S)he asked why someone would _cam_ an episode. Any normal person would say _record_ an episode if that's what they really meant.
Naturally, buckinbottoms assumed (s)he meant someone put an actual _cam_corder in front of the screen and _recorded_ the episode. His reply containing personal experiences over this matter was logically correct. Any person giving him a thumbs-down for this, simply demonstrates their ineptitude of higher reasoning.

I took a test once in college where I was on a simulated driving course. Did the track several times regular then I took a phone call where I was asked math questions and to memorize some things. The changes in my track times were statistically irrelevant no matter what I was doing on the phone. Conclusion, the phone call wasn't distracting me from driving at all. Most of my peers had much worse times when answering questions on the phone but me and a couple of others did not.

Not sure the relevance but I'd rather not blanket ban driving while talking on the phone while there are clearly people out there who can talk without affecting their driving. There are idiots who buy guns and don't understand gun safety but we don't ban guns because of them.

Texting, however, is a different story. Eyes off the road. Both hands off the steering wheel. Only problem with making it illegal is how you enforce it.

I can't agree more. This is where we need the government to get its act together and perhaps enforce an industry-wide standard practice for both the auto and mobile sector.

The degradation in driving performance from texting must be at least as bad as high-range drink driving. Never mind fining offenders, I think they should be taken away in cuffs and their vehicles towed.
