Pc to tv aspect ratio

Hello,
i have a vga cable to connect my laptop to tv. They are both 1366 768 in aspect ratio but the tv cant cope with this picture. it can only handle
800 600 aspect ratio which means that it squashes the picture to 4:3. if i buy a hdmi laptop will this solve the problem? or do i need a new tv

This program will allow you to change everything and can be very overwhelming. I suggest you read up and learn how to change the frequency and see if you can get the TV to accept the max resolution
