My laptop's performance goes up and goes down at regular intervals. This happens in gaming too. The fps was around 50 while playing odyssey and suddenly it dropped down to 13fps and after a while it goes back to normal. I have an Asus rog Strix GL503GE.

This sounds like typical throttling for heat. Many (most) laptops will do this to some extent. You can try lowering your game's graphics settings a bit, or changing your fan speeds (cooling profile).
