Here's a guide to unlock a myTouch 3G phone.

Pretty simple, retrieve the IMEI code by dialing *#06. Either buy an unlock code online, do a search for "buy unlock codes", or call up t-mobile customer care and request one. Once you get the unlock code, put the non t-mobile sim card into the myTouch, the one you want to use. You should be prompted to enter the unlock code, and enter the one you either bought or got on the phone. Your phone should work with the non-tmobile sim card!
