ey guys, I'll try to make this as short as I can.

I'm planning on buying a new laptop for the following (in order of CPU load/intensity):

Uses

1.) Electronic dance music production (on FL Studio, heavy projects)
2.) Frequent gaming (nothing extreme though, heaviest game I have is Counter Strike Global Offensive)
3.) College work (not really CPU heavy at all)

I have narrowed down my search to these brands and these brands only, having eliminated all other brands including Apple (because of price range):

In no order,

Brands

1.) ASUS
2.) Lenovo
3.) Sony (not sure about this one, heard software support isn't that good)
4.) Dell (again, not sure about this brand because mostly made in China nowadays, and also because of price range).
5.) Toshiba (current laptop was Toshiba, but 1 screen hinge broke only a year after I bought it).

Requirements

1.) Intel i7 processor, 3rd generation (because I read that 4th overheats real quick, and also only about ~ 5 - 10% increase in performance)
2.) Quad core processor (I use a lot of applications that support hyper-threading and multi-threading)
3.) 8 GB ram minimum
4.) Windows OS (7 preferable, but can buy any other Windows and install Windows 7 x64 later).
5.) At least 3 USB ports minimum, I use an external audio interface so USB speed matters a little bit to me.
6.) I am a little flexible on clock speed, but obviously the faster the better.

I don't care about battery life too much, or hard disk space/weight/appearance/etc, although I am looking for screens 13 or 14 inches and up.

Budget is just about $1000 USD, and I'm looking for new condition laptops. I need it ASAP because my current laptop died, so want to buy a new one without having to save up some more or wait for some time. I do some moderate travelling (parents live abroad so travel between university and home during holidays)

And if it matters, I live in Dubai (in the United Arab Emirates). If you guys could suggest some models (preferably) and/or just laptop series in general from the above brands that have what I'm looking for, I would really appreciate that!

Hope my post was clear and organized

Cheers!

Thanks for the reply man! I will take another look at those, although they don't seem to be from any of the brands I mentioned :/

Thanks though! Open to more suggestions :)

Yes I chose different brands. But those are still reliable brands that friends have used. I am not a laptop guy for gaming. But my friends love their's. Hope some more ppl chime in with a little more expertise.

Thanks man I appreciate that, hopefully get some more responses! Btw the laptop isn't MAINLY for gaming, as I mentioned my primary concern is being able to handle heavy music projects...but hopefully I can get more replies from the people on here!

Thanks again
