An unusual, reverse issue occurs when I plug IN my Asus GL753D.

It suddenly powers off. It does not shut down. Just off.

Most people have battery charger issues and see it the other way around, losing power when they take the plug away. Often that would be a bad charger or battery. But that cannot be the case here...

More unusual behaviour:

  • it will do fine if the battery is 100%, but if even needs a slight charge, the issue immediately occurs
  • it is not a battery or charger issue, I have replaced both new
  • unplugging the battery entirely, allows the laptop to run fine, with only the power cord.

Any ideas?

It would appear there is a problem with the power supply inside the laptop. It needs to go to a repair shop. They will likely replace the motherboard.

It's not a PSU. It's components mounted on the motherboard. I doubt many repair shops are able to diagnose and fix this. Expecially without schematics being available. I could be wrong.
