[citation][nom]fulle[/nom]You never got pulled over for matching the speed of traffic Ramar? Just going 10 over on the highway where the speed is set unreasonably low (55mph limit on a major interstate 3 lane, where everyone else is driving like 75, but the cop pulls you over because its the most convenient). How about getting pulled over every single day coming home from work for 10 consecutive days in a row because it just so happens to be when bars are letting out. Or, having a cop follow you 40 miles just to say your tail light is out, in his own frustration, when it clearly is NOT, so he can right you a 30 dollar ticket.Everyone has their own unique experience with the police... and maybe for you, you think its been fair. But, personally, I wish they would stop fucking harassing people. I don't believe that using the police to generate revenue is an ethical thing to do... and I'm surprised we all put up with it.[/citation]

LOL Sounds like you have a behavioral problem when it comes to driving. Pulled over 10 days in a row? Maybe you should check your abilities to learn? :)

In all sincerity though. You can't justify your lack of respect for the law because other people aren't either. Just because everyone else goes 20mph over the limit, doesn't mean you're entitled to do so. The same goes for every other law out there.

I love it, maybe I will get an iPhone. The shock troop, Uh I mean cop is just mad because the public is tired of police state tactics and is successfully fighting back.

of coarse iphone users are cowards look at the type of people who get it or the whole flock of sheep who stand in line at stores the night a new one gets released. i bet the Darwin award winning girl who fell down the manhole in NYC was texting on an Iphone.

Hmm, Iphone users are cowards? I don't know about that. I know some can be pretentious, arrogant and downright annoying. But cowards? Come on? We must remember that the cop is from D.C....nothing good ever comes from there. Besides, why make a fuss about these stupid cameras anyway? They do more harm than good. Instead of convincing me to slow down whenever I see a red light about to change I find myself gunning it in order to not get zapped by the camera. If they are going to install the stupid cameras the least they can do is make sure they work every single time and to make them work so that they provide the drivers enough time to brake. I have found myself braking and endined up in crosswalk/intersection. Red light cameras are a scam. They don't deter accidents. What they do do is generate revenue for lazy police departments who spend most of their time at donut shops.

So many anti-police comments yet no one dare to go on the street and start a riot. The Tibetan did it, the Iranian and even the French did it yet all you cowardly iPhone users are still behind your computer hiding from the police. I’d say the police are going a good job keeping creeps like iPhone users out where the sun shines.

[citation][nom]Ramar[/nom]@fulleI completely agree with you that generating revenue through tickets is terrible[/citation]
isn't that basically the only reason speeding tickets are still around? to generate revenue? I'm not talking about running stop signs or red lights - just plain speeding. of course I am sure speed limits affect safety but safety was also the main argument for keeping speed limits that was pretty much full proof against people disagreeing with speed limits. if I remember right, speed limits were originally about conserving fuel right? and were supposed to be disbanded after the WWII but too many cities/states were seeing the green. and I believe in 1973 they were nationalized for the same reason - conserving fuel. still though in my opinion speeding tickets are 95% about the revenue they generate in said town or city. they could easily cite people doing 150mph+ in 5 o'clock traffic for wreckless driving instead. you don't need a speed limit for that. but then it's still up to the cop's disgression and if he had a bad day or didn't get any the night before. this is a very debatable subject.

So, people who use iPhones are cowards? Well I never did like Apple or their products too much, but cowards? Listen up there chief!

If that is the case then then police are cowards for using technology to catch people. In my way of thinking if the police use radar guns then I should be able to use the radar detector. I mean by the time that thing goes off the cop already has read your speed anyway so why should they care if I got a detector or not? If they use cameras then I should be allowed to know where those cameras are located. They are set in a public setting are they not so they should not be hidden nor secret. Basically I have heard too many from law enforcement try and argue "If your not doing anything wrong then why do need to know (or need to use) it or allow me to search your car." Well I say a "If your not doing anything wrong why should you care about my radar detector, scanner, or gps camera locator."

[citation][nom]kato128[/nom]Dunno how it is in the states but here in aus our camera's are sign posted with billboard size warnings so if you need this tech then you're just proving you're an idiot.[/citation]

Wow! That's nice. I cannot speak for all states or the cities or counties, but here I have not seen one posted sign or billboard or what have you telling you about them. Maybe some do but not in the area I live. If there were then yes I would full on agree with you.

in my city here in the states there is markers/signs but they definitely are not billboard size. more like a little bigger than an actual speed limit or road marker signs (you know the ones that tell you which road/highway you're on like highway 1) if I had to guess which I do! =) definitely easy enough to miss if you don't know the intersection you're coming up on. of course I should clarify I'm speaking of red light camera's.

signs look sorta like this -

or like

(though I have never seen one that close to an intersection myself - they are usually more so placed like this last picture - way in front of the intersection so by the time you get to the light if you missed the sign you "missed" it)

I had no idea the iphone had a radar too...i might consider buying one just because of that...or just get a radar and be done with it. I'm tired of being harrassed by cops when i drive...and i have a mustang...talk about a walking target. I don't even drive that fast honestly...

of course they are after revenue. Those officers couldnt get a real job if their life depended on it. Everytime I see a sheriff with someon epulled over on the expressway I am sure to yell "get a real job" as i drive by

Amazing. I like cops. But Washington D.C. is known for outsourcing its cameras to third party private companies that give the city a cut of the "action." So naturally, it's not in the company's best interest to get the ticket right but to ticket as many as possible. That means maybe ticketing when someone goes through a yellow light.

Stupid woman - how many people hold their iphones while driving. GPS devices have POI's that actively tell you where cameras are. Why not target those?

This from police chief of a city with the highest crime rate in the nation and a city who's government fears armed law bidding citizens so much, they enact criminal enablement laws.

I wonder if this is the same chief who setup those security check points last year asking the subjects for “papers” before allowing them to enter a neighborhood.

I believe most cities red light cameras are third party maintained. I know the ones around here are and I have read instances where people have gotten out of tickets for just that reason in other areas. maybe that is changing now though since some city laws actually worked against police departments who outsourced. I mean give me a break, you get a camera ticket here you mail it off to arizona and this is definitely not arizona.

I know a lot of people get out of photo radar tickets as well as red light cameras here in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada...

The problem is you must appear in court during normal work hours...

SOOO i can pay $150 fine or i can miss 2-4 hours work and TRY to get out of it. Fortunately I’m salary so i would go to court, but you can imagine it is just not worth the effort to fight if you are going to lose 4 hours pay.
