Hi
Does anyone have these drivers for Windows 98, I bought it second hand and
it didnt include any drivers, managed to find all the drivers but believe I
need the drivers for "DVD Decoder Board Ver2.1" I've tried the Cinemaster
drivers which someone recommended in the past but they dont work, seems the
7010 and 7020 have different hardware decoders.
Take out REMOVE to email me.
Thanks
Mike

Nope or the other toshiba site - where the drivers are a bit more out of
date. They explain somewhere, I forget the page url that they cant include
the hardware mpeg-2 decoder drivers on their site due to licensing
restrictions, but apparently its on a disk that comes with the laptop. One
person seems to have them, but he posted nearly 5 years ago!

I read that Win 98 will find it even if its not in the dvd docking station
so it must be built into the laptop itself, apparently Win 2000 and XP have
the drivers already, but I dont wanna spend £65 on XP, not when Im probably
selling it soon. Ive tried using linux too, but the newest distro's I've
used weren't made for something with 128mb Ram esp when using KDE.
In actual fact to my amazement it plays dvd's flawlessly when I took off
'enable hardware acceleration' and even plays DivX pretty much flawlessly
too. I just wanna install that last "PCI Multimedia Device" and yes I know
they usually refer to sound cards but im certain that this the mpeg-2
decoder as I have done *alot* of research on it!

And tried pretty much every driver for the portege series!
I guess Im just being fussy really.
Thanks

That's a codec problem not driver. This freeware player was the last
one on the market that came with that codec. It won't hurt to install
the player and find out.

Saw your post before in google groups archive and tried all the versions
(for win 98 maybe some win 95 ones too) but none seemed to work, unzipped
them double clicked on the pci multimedia device and upgraded driver and
pointed it to the folder i'd unzipped them too but wouldnt find it. Also
tried right clicking and installing any .inf files in the unzipped folder.

Thanks alot, got it working! did a google search for that driver and only
had one hit, after I signed up for driverguide I got the file. Installed
the dvdsoft part and nothing was found, but then pointed the unknown device
to the disk 1 folder under dvdsoft and it found it, 'toshiba dvd decoder
board ver 2.1' the dvd player that comes with it is useful too. PowerDVD's
display is still messed up when I choose use hardware acceleration, but I
dont like that program anyway, will use the toshiba one, seems good enough
Im thinking twice about selling it now!
