Presario Screen Problem

The pictures on the screen look like they got wet and are running and streaked on my friend's compaq presaraio F700.

It could be the sign of a bad inverter or perhaps a bad backlight. I'm leaning more towards inverter.

Thank you for answering my question. I read somewhere about taking the computer apart. I started to and partway through chickened out. When I put it back together, the screen was fine. Something must have been loose.

Indeed. It probably could've been a loose wire running from the inverter to the screen or perhaps a bad connection. Whatever the case is, I hope it keeps running for ya.
