Anybody who has a btter understanding than me with audio please help...

I have just built my own pc andvmanaged to set up the audio, but as i only have a monitor and wish to also play with ps3, how can i get them both to work from the same set of speakers??

Will having a 3 way kvm in hdmi prouce sound for the ps3 or not?

Any help, cheers!!!

You would require your monitor to have the following features:

1) HDMI (HDCP) input
2) audio output (stereo only)

Now your sound goes into the monitor via HDMI and then out to the speakers.

The PC setup would likely be DVI (no audio) and audio cable to speakers.

FINALLY:
You'd also want a 3.5mm SPLITTER to the back of your STEREO SPEAKERS (no luck for Surround Sound likely) so that you share the speakers between the PC input and PS3 input.

Parts required:
1) HDMI cable
2) DVI cable (as normal for PC to monitor)
3) 1x3.5mm audio cable
4) 1x RCA to 3.5mm audio cable (if the Monitor output is a Red and White RCA output. If it's a 3.5mm then it's the same M/M as the normal 3.5mm audio cable)
5) 3.5mm Y-Splitter
