After cancelling Sprint two yrs ago because of incessant dropped calls, I
switched back after spending those 2 yrs w/ VZW. I liked VZ's coverage but
not their phones, and I was seduced by the new Toshiba VM4050's spectacular
screen enough to sign up knowing I could get out under the 14-day trial
period.
I drove to all the places where I had problems with Sprint coverage before
and though it may not reach the level of VZ, I think it has substantially
improved over what I had before. Whether it's the phone or Sprint's network
has improved (or both), I dunno. (To the poster who warned me in an earlier
thread about getting dropped at Waugh and Fairview every time, I got dropped
the first time, but the phone has held on through two subsequent passes thru
that intersection.)
Though I have heard Sprint's customer service is awful, I have had pretty
good experiences with everyone, including in-store personnel, and *2
customer service and tech support.
I also like the phone a lot. I've heard it knocked as a clumsy, poorly
built handset and no comparison to the venerated Sanyo 5500, but it's
performed well so far for my needs and I'm happy with it, despite a few
shortcomings.
Finally, Vision has worked well and has been reasonably quick for browsing
WAP pages for basic news, sports, and getting email. I'm now 10 days into
my 14-day trial period and have decided to stick with Sprint. I remain a
little wary but if things don't pan out, I can always pay the cancellation
fee and move on....
