Rate My Laptop Build

Hey guys,
I used tom's hardware before to help me make my desktop pc. I now need a good gaming laptop for when i go off to university. Im looking for a laptop that can play games like battlefield 4 and run on high graphics and have little/no performance issues. It also need to be able to run general engineering programs, which is why I chose 16gb ram. Below are the current specs I have for it. Its hard finding sites that build laptops. There wasn't that many choices for the pc and if you know a site that is better than cyberpower pc and can ship to canada i would also appreciate it.

I would never get a cyberpower laptop, especially if you need it for school. They are VERY heavy, thick and of poor quality.

Save yourself a ton of money and headaches and get something like the Lenovo Y50. it can play all the new games (at medium quality) easily, its got good battery life, and its not as heavy and looks better.

I like your build.
Excellent processor
Excellent Graphics card
Excellent Memory
Primary Storage is excellent (250 GB solid state drive)


You are missing a notebook cooling system though which you will definitely need. Also, if you don't already have an external hard drive, then you will need one as 250 gb SSD will not be sufficient. I would even recommend that you add a 1 TB Secondary hard drive to your system. In that, you could boot the operating system on the SSD which will give some good performance speed; then you use the secondary hard drive for storage.

Overall though , a very good build. If you are not planning to do editing and or video production, then 16 GB RAM is an overkill and wastage. Games and most programs will never take more than 8 GB RAM.
