Turns off instantly WHEN turned on

Take it to repair shop as it is recommended.
But before all disconnect all things and then try, if it still turns off then take it to repair or buy new one.

Disconnect all the cables and speaker wires from the receiver and then turn it on.
If it still shuts down then you will need to get it serviced.
If it stays on then you would connect one pair of speaker cables at a time to determine which wire or speaker is causing the receiver to go into protection.
Check the speaker wires at both ends to make sure that they are connected without shorting to each other. Then try another piece of speaker wire. If the receiver still shuts down the speaker itself it the problem.
If you get all the speakers connected and the receiver stays on you would then connect your input cables one at a time. It's less likely for an input to shut down the receiver but it's worth checking since you have to disconnect it to get it serviced anyway.
