Can anyone recommend some good reliable web hosting sites for a new web site or 2 at a reasonable price?

Hopefully not anything to do with Yahoo, Hotmail or AOL.

My online computer is running Win XP, and Firefox, with Google as my default search engine.

Why don't you try 000webhost? It's free and has no ads. 1.5GB disk space and 100GB bandwidth is pretty good for a free service in my opinion.
