my laptop was infested with a virus. after removing the virus, i lust all my files and documents. How do i recover my files and pictures.

You can use windows system restore if it is enabled.
System restore takes a snap shot of your windows OS about once everyday.

Using system restore as above will also restore the virus.

What steps did you take to get rid of the virus? Did you format the computer and re-install Windows?
