obviously, this is for people who already own a PS3. If you want a price drop then you should hope that Sony sells more TV's or that the economy gets better.

People are silly. I had every color of gamecube controller when I was in the dorms, and considered the black one mine when I played. Eventually, friends started to identify with a different controller "don't touch my orange controller!", until everyone pretty much had a favorite. Different colored controllers can be fun, but only 3 colors? I guess the chances of more than 1 person playing a PS3 at the same time are pretty low anyway.
