I woke up from a nap and my computer had a bubble that read "Hard Error" with no information on the impending crash. I would attempt to run MSBlaster removal but when Windows XP boots (after quite some time) and I have no access to my start menu until the RPC failure as reported by the NT System Authority forces a shutdown after 60 seconds (even with internet disconnected)
Chkdsk detected errors but provided no confirmation of fixing them. Fixmbr was fruitless. Scanning the drive from a second computer with Windows Security Essentials and Malwarebytes found no hint of a virus, so I'm assuming this is strictly hardware...is my only option a clean install? It's a weary process however so this is my final attempt before I admit defeat and quit wasting my time.
Toshiba Satellite A105
Samsung HM500JJ HDD
Windows XP SP3
Sorry if I don't adhere to forum policies I'm rather new and through all of my searching I have yet to discover a solution that covers both issues.
Thanks a lot!
