Hi, I'm a recent architecture graduate interning under an pen and paper Architect who is really knowledgeable but clueless when in comes to technology.
Looking to buy a laptop in immediate future for all my consultant work, renderings, and general use. Previously had a mac but after 7yrs its time to retire, looking into both mac and pc's. Use revit and 3dsmax so laptop needs to cater to these programs. I expect to have this laptop for 4-6 years and my demands may change with my field and new software, im new enough i need to keep up with the "times."
Greatly appreciate any advice you have
1. What is your budget?
$1000-2500; IDEALLY 2,000 OR LESS
2. What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
PREFER 15" +/-
3. What screen resolution do you want?
I HAVE A MONITOR I CAN HOOK UP TO SO NOT TO PICKY, DO PREFER ANTI-GLARE
4. Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
PORTABLE, WILL BE WORKING OUT OF HOME AND OFFICE
5. How much battery life do you need?
MORE THE BETTER, I LIVE IN HAWAII SO IF I CAN WORK OUTSIDE I'M ALL FOR IT.
6. Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low,Medium or High)?
NO GAMES
7. What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo/Video editing, Etc.)
REVIT, AUTOCAD, 3DSTUDIO MAX, PHOTOSHOP, INDESIGN, ILLUSTRATOR, DAY-TO-DAY GENERAL USE
8. How much storage (Hard Drive capacity) do you need?
I DON'T WANT TO BREAK THE BANK BUT THE MORE THE BETTER RIGHT? ESPECIALLY SINCE I'LL BE KEEPING IT 4-6 YEARS AS PRIMARY COMP.

CONSIDERING DELL XPS 15,
LOOKS GOOD, BUT REVIEWS HAVE SAID BATTERY IS POOR,WOULD LIKE ANTI-GLARE SCREEN (THESE CONS DO NOT ELIMINATE THIS OPTION)
MACBOOK PRO 15"
I DID LIKE MY OLD MAC BUT SINCE I WOULD HAVE TO RUN BOOTCAMP FOR REVIT IT MAKES SINCE TO GET A PC AND SAVE MONEY. EITHER WAY, I'M OPEN TO YOUR EXPERT OPINIONS.
