Anyone know of a way to repair a worn-out Select button on a Panasonic
ShowStopper (i.e. early Replay) remote?

Anyone tried the Philips PMDVR8 remote, which promises complete Replay
compatiblity?

TIA!
Rick

Chemtronics "Rubber Keypad Repair Kit" available at digikey.com and many
other places. Do NOT use rear defroster grid repair compound. This will
repair buttons if they are truly "worn out", but most of the problems
with replay remote come from moisture and oily grease condensing on the
pads. A quick swabbing with alcohol is frequently all that is needed.
Almost all universal remotes have replay codes. There are a couple of
buttons that usually have to be mapped manually so make sure the remote
has programming capabilities. Other that that it is a style and personal
preference issue.

I'll echo that I just bought this and have had it for a week and it
works great. It works every component I have, even my old Technics
Home Theater reciever/cd which I lost the remote for ages ago. This
thing passes the "wife and kid" test handily. The buttons are labeled,
even for replay and tivo, although the writing is pretty small. works
like a champ

My absolute favorite remote control is made by "ONE FOR ALL".
The model number is URC 6131. I paid $21.99 at Best Buy a couple
months ago.

Amazon has it for $13.99 with free shipping for orders over $25.

I love the replaytv remote, but I almost like this one better.
It has color coded keys and is perfect size and heft.

This is great buy in my opinion.
