Replacement part for damaged speaker element in a Vandersteen 1C Speaker?

I have a pair of Vandersteen 1C speakers, one of them has become damaged (they are old) and I wonder if I can purchase a new speaker part to replace the damaged one inside the 1Cs?

Replacement parts should be available. What part(s) are damaged?

I suggest going over to http://www.diyaudio.com/ Many speaker builders and designers hang out on that site. Give as much info as possible.

I would contact Vandersteen Audio for any parts you would need.
You would have to remove the bottom of the speaker to access the staples that hold the cloth on and then move the cloth up to see the woofer. The tweeter is higher up and you may have to remove the staples that hold the cloth around the input terminals to be able to get it high enough to see what the problem is.

Thank you - I did not know how to take off the cloth without making a mess of the speakers, so did not know what element, woofer or tweeter, was damaged. I will check that first before following up with Vandersteen or checking diyaudio.com as the other commenter suggested. I will let you know the outcome...
