They have been talking about this for years. Nothing new really.

RIM's mistake was in trying to cater to the iPhone crowd at all. They should be an enterprise focused organization in all aspects, with only a minor consumer element. They should be modeling themself after Oracle or Cisco, not Apple or Samsung.
