I think the funniest thing is how pathetic and cult-like Apple-hating has become. Ya'll certainly outnumber the fanboys. :)

It has to CHARGE from a microUSB, but nothing else. Apple will still keep their retarded 30-pin connector so that they can keep charging for licensing fees. On paper it sounds good (for apple) but any intelligent consumer knows that apple and their products, regardless of what "innovative" options they accessorize their products with, is still complete garbage.

amazing this backwards tablet is finally getting 14 year old technology, it even has multitasking now, its approaching the abilities of a THREE YEAR OLD TABLET(look up the nokia n800)

Not that you will be ble to just add USB devices at a whim, seriously, useful ones like printers will need drivers - good luck with that. Copying files from your flash drive, won't be able to play them because they didn't sync up. This is not as good news as you think, the port is there solely to charge from, Apple have you by the balls and you know it.

The USB port is required if they plan to sell it in EU as all mobile phones by January 2011 have to give users the options of charging through a universal charger.

I have a feeling that you're right. Just look at the mini-displayport lack of audio out for their iMacs and Mac Mini's (although I think it was added in their new products). You needed a special (i.e. expensive) adapter that also plugged into the SPDIF port to connect out to a HDMI port. Yet audio out is part of the displayport standard. Once you try to use your Apple products in the non-Apple world, things get (even more) expensive.
