REVIEW MY SETUP PLEASE

Hello all, I am planning on buying a Sager NP9150. If you could look over the specs and just give me your opinion on the design that would be great!

Display: 15.6" LED backlit super glossy (1920 x 1080)
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 675MX with 4GB of gddr5 video memory
Processor: Third gen i7 3630QM (6MB L3 Cache, 2.40GHz
Thermal Compound: IC Diamond CPU + GPU
OS: Windows 7 home premium (I like it more than 8)
Memory: 16 GB dual channel ddr3 (2 x 8GB) (Im not sure if the 2 x 8GB is better or 4 x 4GB. the 4gb option is cheaper. is it worth it to get the 8GB?)
Hard Disk: 1TB 5400 RPM SATA2
mSATA SSD Drive (intel SRT): Crucial 64 GB M4 series (i figure that this will make up for the hard drive being only 5400 rpm)
Optical drive: 6X blu ray reader/8X dvd with DL Super multi drive and software
networking: killer wireless-n 1103
chipset: intel hm77

nuteguy I would get the 7970m, drop the blu ray, get 2X4GB of ram. Screw the Intel SRT, get a primary SSD of 12*GB+. "Killer wireless N" also not necessary.
Do you want to be gaming on the move? Save yourself some money on certain items you will never use.

Now for my 2 cents, I would build a desktop that was $1200 and buy a $400-$500 laptop. The laptop would be thinner and more portable. The desktop would be pretty powerful with a larger screensize. If you are commuting to school or a desktop will not work, ignore this. Good Luck!

Thank you for the reply but i dont have the room for a desktop. I need this laptop to handle everything i throw at is. also, the blu ray is needed for me incase i want to watch any movies. i see a need for the killer N, as most of the time i will be on a wireless connection. speed is everything so i think that will help. once again, thank you

OK, no problem, well certainly add the Blu Ray back in, and "Killer N" is just a different brand. What type of environment will this laptop be gaming at? I go to Drexel University, no campus wireless (with all those shared connections) will ever utilize your wireless card fully. Now if it is your home connection that is a different story, but your router must also be up to task.

the 5400 RPM hard drive is the big mistake. Windows 8 is rather impressive when installed on an SSD primary. My desktop is an i5-3570k w/ an Intel 520 and its unbelievably peppy.

well ill be at home so ill pretty much only be using wireless. i may invest in a router later on. i would rather avoid windows 8. my mom has it on her desktop and i tried it out and i just dont like it that much. i do need 1TB of hard drive disk space though. This laptop will need to last me for quite a while and ill need a lot of space. i could go down to 750gb but i really dont see why i would need to

Or an external BD writer/reader? Not sure if you have the space for that. Again, just my opinion but I think the HDD can really cripple a nice build.

so would it be better to go with a 750GB hdd and then get an external hard drive if i need it later on? that would bump the rpm up to 7200 and then the intel srt would only help. i read reviews that said boot times dropped and all of the processes were much faster.

I think ill go with the 750 gb. the ssd would be better with the less power, heat.... all the stuff you said but they get pricy quickly. and i dont really want to take an external hard drive with me everywhere i go. with the 750 gb i can get an external hdd if i need it whereas with the ssd, i would definitely need it.

Dont buy that one, they have the np9150 Special edition on sale right now for $1670. the Special edition has the 680m GPU. WAAAYYYYYY superior to the 675mx. It aslo includes all the upgrades such as the thermal compound, killer 1103 network card, blue ray drive, etc.

However, it comes with the 750GB 7200 rpm hard drive, which is what I'd rather have anyways compared to 5400rpm + ssd cache. If you want pure performance, drop the regular HDD and add the 256 GB crucial m4 for $165. Total then becomes $1830.

Do you really need more than 256gb storage on a laptop? I have a 250 GB SSD in my laptop and it still has 180GB free... But even if you do need more space, use the mSata port for additional HDD or carry along an external drive.
