roku/amazon fire/no input

My older model tv will accept an older model Roku but will not accept a newer model Roku or Amazon Fire TV. It says no signal. Is there something that I can do so that I can use the Amazon Fire TV? I've tried both HDMI ports and it happens to both.

Maybe the video resolution of both the Roku and Fire are too high for the TV. If you can connect them to a 1080p TV you should be able change the video settings so the output is compatible with your older TV. Check the specs of your TV for the native resolution and set the output to that.
