I have a Samsung S8000 series tv from 2017. It is a smart tv and has ROKU. I cut the cord and streaming is slow. Would adding a ROKU box to the mix make a difference. I know this tv has an older interface board that limits the data vs the three-year-old Samsung we have in the bedroom (2.5X faster). My speed according to Netflix is 11Mbps. Bedroom is 33.2. Both hardwired. I assume the ROKU box would have a faster interface than the tvs, much like a cable box. LAN cable in and then HDMI to the TV. My internet is through Spectrum and pay for 300 service. Two other options are 500 and 1 G.

Yes an external box should work better. Speed on both TVs seems a bit slow for an ethernet cable, although I have not actually tested Netflix speed, but no issues with the built in apps on my TV with 4k video.
