[citation][nom]Pherule[/nom]Nokia is the most successful cellular company to date, why the heck would they need to bail?[/citation]
Well you are right there, they are still the worlds number one provider of cell phones, just not smartphones.
It was a pretty big ball to drop but considering their R&D, assets and cash stockpile it is not impossible to turn it around and get the crown back.

After all, HTC only started in 1997 and got as big as they currently are off the back of Android smartphones, if it wasn't for their embrace of that they would be just another cellphone maker too.

The world needs Nokia if only to drive innovation amongst competitors, when the market constricts the OEMs get lazy.

That idea makes sense, especially knowing that Microsoft just bought Skype. Skype and Nokia match each other very well.

[citation][nom]hanrak[/nom]A company reportedly worth 19 billion is a failed company?[/citation]

Haven't you read the other articles on Tom's? There was one a while back about the company going down if they didn't come up with something to compete in the new smartphone market. The CEO himself said they're taking a huge risk and might not make it.

I would leave Nokia alone. But for those that don't realize Nokia is still the largest handset maker in the world, you're just fooling yourselves.
