Samsung digital in only 2.1

Hi I have samsung ht-tp33 home theatre system when I set it to digital in its only 2.1 I have optical toslink out from lg tv and in to the system do you know why?

Check the TV audio menu to see if you can change the audio output to surround sound. It may not be clearly labeled so just try an alternative.
Make sure you are tuned to a channel or source that is in 5.1.
