A lot of people don't realize it, but you simply can't make up for 10x zoom with anything less. And not for the reasons mentioned in this article. Lens compression will be different and that fundamentally changes the image no matter what you do. I'd rather see a thicker camera bump so we improve telephoto resolution and reduce low light noise. That'll give the AI technologies a lot more to work with as well.
