I'm not really a power user and i'm wondering if my laptop supports SSDs since i've seen some say SATA 6.
Also my HDD has been at 100% usage lately and i'm wondering if its dying,

Yes, you should be able to replace the HDD with a SATA HDD (2.5 inch type). Something like this:
