samsung remote for a yamaha

I have a samsung remote BP59-00084 and I want to know if it will work on my Yamaha RX-V870 receiver

Since there is no choice for AV receiver at the top of the remote that means it hasn't any codes built in to operate receivers. You will need a universal remote with the correct codes for both in it's database or learning functions so you can teach it the codes if not in the database.
