Well, you can uninstall many. That would keep them from running. You can also check their settings to make sure they aren't set to turn on or turn back on.

For apps you can't uninstall (like ones the manufacturer added) you can try going into "Settings" then "Apps" and scroll over to "ALL". Locate the app you are having the issue with and tap it. If the "Disable" option is available tap that and the app will be turned off until you re-enable it.

For anything other than that, try getting an app like "Clean Master" or something similar. You can use it to keep an eye on running apps and system usage.
