screenshot is black

I cannot find an answer for this problem anywhere...I am able to take a screenshot on my Toshiba Satellite, but the image is always black in the screenshot folder. Same is true if I go ahead and past this image into Paint. What is going on?

Are we talking screenshots, as in a game, or using the print screen button?

If this is inside a game, you may want to try holding down the control key with the print screen key.

Outside a game try holding down the Alt key with the print screen key.

No, pressing the ALT key with the PRTSC key produces nothing. Pressing the Windows key with the PRTSC key produces a black image in the screenshots folder. This happens with any screen, I do not game. I should have explained I am using a Toshiba Satellite A500 series laptop with Windows 10. I had never tried doing print screeen on my previous Windows 7,...so this is my first time trying this process. Thanks.

No, pressing the PRTSC key alone produces nothing...the screen does not dim at all, and no image appears in the screenshots folder. My folder is full of black images.

I am then at a loss. The only versions of this I have run into have been in game shots or needed to use alt or ctrl or vice versa. Apologies I can't be of more assistance.

Anyone else have any suggestions?
