You would have to plug the cable box or whatever into the laptop, if you have one of the few laptops with video in capability.

Therefore it is impossible w/o using some type of video capture device plugged into the USB port. The only exception are a couple of Alienware laptops that have HDMI inputs. That is if the current models still have that feature.
