Does anyone know if it's possible to hook up a TV to a laptop so that you can watch the TV picture live on the laptop?

Very few laptops have a video in port. As far as I know only a couple alienwares have that. TVs also don't have video out. You would have to plug the cable box or whatever into the laptop, if you have one of the few laptops with video in capability.

Laptops do not have Video Input. Therefore it is impossible w/o using some type of video capture device plugged into the USB port.

The only exception are a couple of Alienware laptops that have HDMI inputs. That is if the current models still have that feature.
