Sending from PC to RTV

I've looked all around this newsgroup and various other sites - Please
tell me if my perception about sending video from my PC is correct:

I have a 5504, connected to my home network. I will be getting a new
PC, the HP Media Center PC with 120 GB and it's own PVR. After
reading about DVarchive, I know I can use that to download content
from my RTV to the PC, and then call it back when I want it.

It looks like from my reading that I can use my PC's PVR to record
content, but then I have to use RTVConvert to put in a format to play
on the RTV.

My questions are:
* Is Dvarchive the best way to store RTV content on my PC?

* Does it stream from the PC, or does it have to download the entire
file to the RTV?

* Do I have to use RTVConvert to make files recorded on the PC
readable by the RTV?

Is there another way to do what I want, which is 1) to be able to
archive RTV'd shows on the PC, and 2) to be able to record via my PCs
TV tuner, then play through my RTV. My PC and RTV are in separate
rooms, and my RTV room is the entertainment hub of my house.

Thanks for any responses.

As far as I'm concerned it is! Actually, I don't know any other way...

It streams! Works extremely well, except I must turn off my XP firewall to
do so. I think there's a way to tell the XP firewall to allow particular
ports to remain open, but haven't figured this out yet.

Yes.

Not that I know of.

Sure.

There are other programs that can pull shows off the RTV. Personally I
still prefer DVA.

You can download the show as either a copy or move as well to the PC as
well as stream if you like. You can stream back to the RTV but not copy
or move.
To open the XP firewall port go to your Network connection properties,
click the Local Area Connection Properties and then the "Advanced" tab.
On top you have the enable the "Internet Conneciton Firewall" checkbox
(checked if enabled).
Below is a "settings" button. Click "settings"
The select "http" (which is port 80) and allow access.

Your RTV should now "see" your computer running DVA and be able to
stream shows to the RTV from the XP computer.

Only works for 5xxx machines, not 4xxx.

Provided you have a 5xxx RTV, check out the AVS forums for threads on
producing MPG files on the PC and streaming them to the RTV.
