Hello,
Long time reader, first time poster. Seeking a little help on an issue I have.
I do recording using an external microphone on an old Windows Vista HP laptop. This has worked flawlessly for years but the laptop is getting on and I'm looking to replace it soon.
However the new laptops I've all looked at do not have separate 3.5mm plugs for a microphone/headphone, they have one combined plug.
Fair enough, I thought. I purchased a Sennheiser PCV05 adapter and am testing it out with a borrowed Windows 10 laptop, running Adobe Audition 1.5, which I use for my recording.
Try as I might, I can't get the laptop to detect any audio whatsoever from the microphone. Even in the Settings in Windows, it's simply not picking up any audio in Windows, never mind in Audition. Yet if I connect the microphone to the microphone plug on the old Vista machine, everything works as it's meant to.
Is there a setting I'm missing or something I should be checking?
I can provide more information if required.
Thanks in advance
