Serial numbers on hp laptop remotes

Hello,
My laptop was stolen and i dont have my serial number, but i still have the remote that came with it. Am i able to get the serial number from the remote or able to match it to my laptop to somehow get my serial number? my email is [email removed], please let me know if there's anyway for me to get the serial number so i can find the person that my laptop was sold to.

Is there any unique id on the remote? And even with the serial#, all you can do it report it to the police and the manufacturer as there isn't anyway to track a laptop with a serial#.
