Solved! Should I be concerned?

Very strong magnet can corrupt or erase data on the HDD, so best avoided. I'm not aware of any other damage it can cause. Noise is probably just the magnetic field disturbing the speakers. But generally would advise you keep all magnets away from a laptop, PC, & external hard drives.
