Should I get the GTX 880 or is 870 sufficient?

So I am getting the new MSI Dominator Pro and I have the money for the one that comes with the GTX 870 should I just get that one or wait for a bit and get the 880? I know it is better but how much better? Will I really know the difference for the price?

Nobody knows how much the 880 will be better than 870 but as far as I know in real world benchmarks, X80's are about 10-15 frames per second better than X70's, depending on the game you play.

If you have the budget, go with the 880 as it will show improvement over the 870. How much improvement? I cannot say since i haven't had any experience with the two. Depending on the game you play you may not even see any improvement rather that maybe 5-10 FPS. It's really up to you on this one. I can tell you that I have a GTX 770 and I love it very much. It handles everything I throw at it very well and I couldn't ask for more.

I'm not really sure, because you can overclock that graphics card even more for about 5-10 frames per second more (Again, it depends on what kind of game you play, non-demanding games can get you up to 20 frames per second for just a GPU OC!).

If I get the one with the 870 it will already have a SSD in it. If I get the 880 version I will have to wait to upgrade to an SSD when I get the funds...but it will have the better GPU

If you are going to play those games, than you will gain about 20-30 frames per second with just a GPU overclock, especially in Source games like Gmod, Portal 2 and Team Fortress, I always say if you have the money for a better GPU then go for it!

So I took the plunge and bought the GT70 Dominator Pro with the GTX 880m it should be a beast. I will let you all know when I receive it!

Ended up Getting the DominatorPro with the 880m and it didn't dissapoint! Look at the scores!
