the wifi antenna on your laptop is propably rubbish. if it has a ethernet port, try connecting it directly to the router.

The wifi chipset in your laptop can also be problematic with your model of router. One of my mini PCs had a broadcom that hated my asus router. Replaced it with an intel wifi card and it worked wonderfully.
