Wife opened hers this morning (christmas day) and its stuck on the boot screen after update. For those saying its not important can kiss my ass. If I had known this was happening I would have checked. But its jackasses like u saying not enough people have had this problem. Bullshit. Googles full of them. Maybe I should try and guess all bad scenarios and type them into google before buying something... or maybe manufactures can put out a consistant product that passes QC standards. Fuck kindle for ruining my wifes present. Keep your turd 😉

Update:

After Amazon established that I won't get a replacement because I didn't buy it myself, and I didn't have a credit card on file, and my registered address wasn't in the US... I got my "gifter" to carry my 'Kindle Brick' back to the US, from where they have agreed to replace it very soon. He said 'they were very nice about it' ~ something I can't say for myself and my own experience dealing with Amazon Customer Care, the Kindle Expert and then the Returns person. I hope the replacement unit will not be a brick, I do like my Kindles!

My li'l tip to people with the same problem is that just don't try too hard to make it work, the device IS faulty when it does that reboot/hang loop. Get it replaced. If you're in the US, they are quick about it.

This is exactly our situation, "Bricked" right after connecting to Amazon and won't budge. Amazon is sending a replacement, but had to give them more credit card info, Not happy and will be really unhappy if a charge appears on my credit card statement before the "brick return" is processed, Sorry I didn;t spend the extra $$ for an ipad.
